Katayoon H.K.Nazer

Multidisciplinary artist

I am Katayoon, born in 1983 in Tehran-Iran, in an educated, art-loving family.

I have always been fascinated by art and craft, and maybe that was the reason I decided to first learn the beautiful Italian language and after receiving my bachelor’s in Italian literature, with the endless support of my parents, I set off on a mysterious and wonderful journey to Italy.

For a year in Florence in 2009, I became acquainted with different techniques of hand printing on fabrics like silk, linen, cotton.

I enrolled in Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin the next year and, in 2013 I received my bachelor's degree in Decoration. Through all these years I never stopped experimenting with traditional printing on different fabrics.

In 2017, I received my master's degree in Fashion Design from Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan.

To get acquainted with digital fabric printing industry, I did an internship,  which lead to a very happy cooperation, with a printing factory in Como, that is very famous in the production of high quality silk fabrics and printing in Europe.

I consider myself an artist and a painter. My roots and where I come from are evident in most of my works. I think Iranians start knowing art before knowing what life is: As an infant you start crawling on world famous carpets full of patterns and colors, and when you become old enough to walk, you try to make your way along those beautiful lines as if trying to mingle with the mystery and magic of the patterns.

These symbolic captivating forms and shapes and colors are an inseparable part of my being, that combined with Western art and philosophy make my work significantly different and unique if you may.
